The 4.4 litre Twin Turbo V8 produces 560-600 BHP depending on the variant and powers the most powerful M5/M6 platform BMW has ever made. Two large catalyst bricks per exhaust bank create substantial back pressure, increase engine-bay heat, restrict airflow and performance, and limit turbo spool speed. The stock catalysts are particularly restrictive when ECU tuning is applied and can obstruct meaningful power gains.
