Most modern intake systems are difficult to improve upon. With modern CFD and injection-moulded plastics, OEM systems generally have good airflow without significant restriction or compromise. However, enthusiasts often want to hear more induction noise or supercharger whine than the OEM system permits. Rather than constructing an aluminium system that could suffer from heat soak and limit intake volume due to tube sizing, VelocityAP created a full 3D scan of the vehicle and designed a properly partitioned airbox-delete section that retains the OEM cold-air ducting to the filter element.
The design provides the desired supercharger whine without concerns about heat soak or restricting intake volume below the OEM specification. The kit also incorporates a roof to protect the filter element from water ingress draining from bonnet vents.
There are also instances where more volume than OEM may be required to facilitate further performance improvements. For example, the stock intake may be adequate on a 340BHP base vehicle but may not provide sufficient airflow on a more heavily modified V8. This intake is a required modification when fitting VelocityAP's larger 2300 supercharger packages.
VelocityAP's satin-finished carbon-fibre system is designed as a true performance part.
