The CSF Heat Exchanger & Transmission Cooler Module combines both coolers in a single front-mounted unit for the BMW F9X X3M/X4M and G0X X3/X4 M40i.

Important Drop-in installation requires no modifications on the F9X X3M/X4M. Suits G01 X3 M40i and G02 X4 M40i LCI models and pre-LCI models built after 08/2019 with the B58D engine; build date must be verified by VIN. Minor line/connection positioning adjustments may be required. The transmission cooler connects to the OE lines but is not a direct replacement for BMW OE transmission oil cooler 17-21-9-487-254.
Important Pre-LCI G0X X3/X4 M40i models built before 08/2019 require modifications: either factory thermostat and lines from a model built after 08/2019 or a custom universal AN setup. The original liquid-to-oil cooler may remain if line routing permits; removing it requires joining its coolant lines into a loop.
Important A custom AN setup requires an 8HP to AN-8 or -10 transmission cooler adapter, transmission-fluid-rated AN-8 or -10 lines and fittings, a thermostat and adapters for BMW-style cooler connectors. This custom setup is not tested and CSF does not offer technical support for it.

X3 M40i (G01) / X4 M40i (G02) LCI, and pre-LCI built after 08/2019

Fits LCI models and pre-LCI models built after 08/2019 with the B58D engine (verify the build date by VIN). The heat exchanger directly replaces BMW 17-11-9-468-695. The module's transmission oil cooler is not a direct replacement for BMW 17-21-9-487-254, but it connects to the OE lines and mounts to the CSF heat exchanger; the lines may need minor repositioning.

X3 M40i / X4 M40i pre-LCI built before 08/2019

These models have no air-to-air transmission oil cooler (they use a liquid-to-oil cooler in the engine bay), so the CSF transmission oil cooler cannot be connected without modification. Use the factory thermostat and lines from a model built after 08/2019, or a custom AN setup (not tested or supported by CSF).

BMW parts for the factory option: flow line 17-22-8-672-935, return line 17-22-8-837-517, line bracket 17-22-9-494-187, screw 34-50-9-804-151, holder top shell 17-22-8-699-987 (x3), line bracket 17-22-7-936-454, Torx bolt 07-11-9-908-535, coolant line bracket 17-22-7-936-450, bolt 07-11-9-907-573, thermostat 17-22-8-678-822, hex bolt 17-22-8-678-827 (x2), O-ring 17-22-7-613-656 (x4). If the original transmission cooler is removed, join its coolant lines into a loop with a barbed hose connector.
