Just like the homologated motorsport applications for the Porsche 911 GT3 R (991 series), the KW Clubsport applications feature a 3-way adjustable front axle strut in an upside-down design as well as a 4-way adjustable solid piston rear axle damper. No other Clubsport coilover suspension with parts certification comes closer to the suspension technology used in GT3-class motorsport. This provides the ideal performance upgrade to fully exploit your sports car’s potential during track days, driver training events, tourist drives on Grand Prix circuits, and fast laps on the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
Developed to break lap records: The KW Clubsport Coilover Suspension
Even in their base tuning, KW Clubsport coilover suspensions are configured for the varied track surfaces, banked turns, crests, and chicanes of the 20.8 km Nürburgring Nordschleife. After all, we are one of the most successful suspension manufacturers and suppliers in motorsport, with our roots at the Nordschleife.
In the NLS Endurance Championship alone, we equip nearly half of the starting grid, and KW suspension technology is standard in numerous customer racing programs.
KW V4 Clubsport / V5 Clubsport Coilover Suspension in Detail
The vehicle-specific base setup of the KW V4 Clubsport / V5 Clubsport coilover suspension is developed through extensive testing on the Nordschleife and the KW 7-post dynamic test rig. This setup can be further adjusted using click settings to match corner weights, vehicle weight, and changes in chassis stiffness, such as a bolt-in cage, a welded safety cell, or strut braces.
At the front axle, damper forces are generated at the working piston of the KW single-tube damper and by the low-speed and high-speed compression valves located in the external reservoir. For precise tuning to the track layout, the integrated click adjusters offer 16 clicks for rebound , 13 clicks for low-speed and 14 clicks for high-speed compression damping. The independent reservoir also allows for gas pressure volume adjustment.
At the rear axle, we use 4-way adjustable KW twin-tube dampers with displacement pistons (KW Solid Piston Technology). An external reservoir is not required. The compression and rebound valves, arranged in series, are located separately from the working piston. Individual damper settings are made using the purple and yellow click adjusters located directly on the damper body. With 13 precise clicks for each of the 14 positions, the low-speed and high-speed damping forces for both compression and rebound can be adjusted. Even with minimal suspension travel, steering input, or small surface irregularities, the suspension responds instantly.
