Description

The CSF engineering team has spent over a year working with companies like Drift HQ as well as Pro/Am Drifters to develop and refine the ultimate Drift Radiator. This new Universal Radiator can be used in any racing or motorsport application, but it was purpose built for Drift Vehicles. The size makes it ideal for rear mounted setups and offers an optional shroud with fans capable of keeping the hottest cars cool when sideways. This is the largest Drift Radiator Module on the market and delivers the cooling performance you need to compete.

CSF has been heavily involved in motorsports for years supporting teams and enthusiasts in Time Attack, GTC, SRO, Drifting, along with Drag and Roll Racing. Many of CSF's "Drop-In" fit cooling systems are used in competition in addition to the Universal Systems. One thing that has been missing from the CSF catalog though was a large motorsport radiator; until now.

Design & Engineering

CSF has been heavily involved in motorsports for years supporting teams and enthusiasts in Time Attack, GTC, SRO, Drifting, along with Drag and Roll Racing. Many of CSF's "Drop-In" fit cooling systems are used in competition in addition to the Universal Systems. One thing that has been missing from the CSF catalog though was a large motorsport radiator; until now.

Radiator Core

The new Motorsport Dual-Pass Radiator is the largest and most efficient cooler CSF manufactures. It features a mammoth 705mm x 448mm (27x75" x 17.5") core that is 68mm thick. The 68mm core is 24% thicker than the nearest competitor which uses a 55mm core. It offers more heat transfer and thermal capacity than any other radiator on the market.

CSF's Exclusive B-Tube Technology increases the heat transfer by approximately 15% over regular oval welded tubes. The 44 rows of 8mm super-efficient multi-louvered fins maximize airflow through the core for the best possible performance.

Dual Pass Design

A dual pass configuration was chosen for a number of reasons. The design has several benefits but mainly boils down to cooling performance and ideal configuration.

Performance

From the performance perspective; a dual pass core offers a great balance between optimal cooling and back pressure. By extending the coolant flow path, coolant stays in the radiator longer allowing for additional heat dissipation. While a triple pass may offer even more benefits in this regard, it also creates more resistance and in turn pressure drop. Depending on your setup, this might not be an ideal design. The dual pass design offers a nice balance between ultimate cooling performance and coolant pressure regulation.

Configuration

The other benefit of the dual pass design is it places both fittings on one side of the radiator. This configuration is much easier for setting up a remote or rear mounted radiator. Builders can run the inlet and outline lines together for simpler fabrication and overall shorter coolant lines. The fans can also be clocked in 4 different positions to make wire routing easier.

Fittings

The radiator features threaded -20AN ORB ports for the main coolant inlet and outlet for maximum flow capabilities. One piece of feedback CSF has gotten over the years with the R-1 Triple-Pass "Ultimate Motorsports" Competition Radiator (CSF #8023) has been wanting something with -20AN capabilities instead of only -16AN.

To offer customers more versatility, CSF went with -20AN ORB ports that can be used with either -20AN or -16AN Fittings (fittings not included). Larger -20AN fittings and lines offer both a higher burst pressure limit and greater flow rate.

The inlet/outlet tanks also feature two pre-plugged 12AN (1-1/16"-12) ORB ports. These two ports can be used to mount sensors, aid in bleeding the coolant system, connecting an expansion tank, and more. Each port/bung is located above/below the inlet and outlet fittings.

Mounting Bosses

CSF designed the Motorsport Radiator to give fabricators and builders a wide variety of mounting options. Because this radiator will be mounted in different positions and orientations depending on the application, the engineers wanted to ensure there were mounting bosses for any type of setup.

Each tank is equipped with four M8x1.25 mounting bosses (for a total of eight). One on the top and bottom of each tank, and two on the sides. This allows for bolt-on mounting for any type of structural frame or cradle no matter how or where the radiator will be mounted.

Shroud + 14" SPAL Brushless Fans & Harnesses

The radiator is offered in two versions: Radiator only (CSF#8378) and Radiator with Shroud + 14" SPAL Brushless Fans (CSF #8374). Please see the CSF #8374 listing for more details on the fan & shroud.

Custom Shroud Provisions

CSF understands that many customers would prefer to design and fabricate their own shroud in some cases. The Radiator only (CSF #8378) includes fasteners (8 U-Nuts and Bolts) for your convenience. This is a great option for those wanting a low profile design, different spec fans, or have specific space constraints.

Drawing and Specs

CSF provides drawing and specs on both radiators so fabricators and builders can easily plan the best way to mount the radiator ahead of ordering. All the necessary details and measurements are included.

Testing and Race Use

Drift HQ

CSF worked closely with Drift HQ in development and testing. Their expertise and experience with building drift cars offered valuable insight and feedback. The team there played a huge role in many of the exclusive features you won't see on any competitor's radiators.

Formula Drift

CSF has been a long time sponsor of several Formula Drift drivers and champions. Three drivers will be running the new Motorsport Dual-Pass Radiator for the 2026 season.

Fredric Aasbø & Papadakis Racing

CSF has been working with renowned race car builder Papadakis Racing (Stephan Papadakis) for many years. Fredric Aasbø's A90 Supra is completely cooled by CSF and has been running the R-1 Triple-Pass Competition Radiator (CSF #8023) for several years. While it has performed very well for him over the years, upgrading to the new Motorsport Dual-Pass Radiator will offer more cooling headroom for additional power and peace of mind in competition.

Matt Shulman & Enjuku Racing

Matt Shulman is entering his first season in the ProSpec division of Formula Drift. Stepping into the big leagues also meant big changes to his S13, and one of those changes is the cooling system. He will be running the new Motorsport Dual-Pass Radiator in a rear mounted configuration along with a custom intercooler featuring the CSF #8173 Core.

Collin Zielinski

Collin Zielinski is heading into his second season of ProSpec Formula Drift finishing 7th overall in his rookie season in 2025. His LS powered S14 is an absolute monster but he learned last year the limits of his old cooling system. When he saw the Motorsport Dual-Pass Radiator at SEMA last year, he immediately knew what he wanted and needed.
