VelocityAP uses its Ultra-High Temperature 300 Cell Euro 6-compliant core. These cores were tested extensively on the GT and found to be emissions-compliant. They are a suitable choice for drivers who are not yet ready for ECU tuning or who wish to retain some fuel-smell scrubbing.
As with all McLarens, the GT's OEM catalytic converters are exposed to enormous heat and vibration stresses. VelocityAP's development vehicle was already experiencing core separation at just 8000kms. VelocityAP's design removes the primary location closest to the turbos and under the greatest stress, relocating the core to the secondary position further downstream for maximum durability.
VelocityAP's 300 Cell Ultra-High Temperature Sport Cat Pipes deliver an awe-inspiring race sound, unleashing the howl of the IndyCar-derived twin-turbo V8 engine. These catalyst bricks are the same Ultra-High Temperature bricks supplied to Aston Martin Racing, tested in extreme conditions and engineered to withstand severe use. The result includes pops, crackles and raw engine sound.
VelocityAP's McLaren catalysts and cat deletes use the factory-correct inlet flange. VelocityAP invested in tooling to manufacture an exact reproduction of the original-equipment part. A rolled flare does not allow the male section of the turbo outlet flange to seat as effectively. Without this contour, and with boost running as high as 24lbs, there is a risk of leakage or a blown gasket after hard use.
VelocityAP's flanges replicate the factory parts to ensure a precise fit.
