Most modern intake systems are difficult to improve. With modern CFD and injection-moulded plastics, OEM systems generally provide good airflow without significant restrictions or compromises. However, enthusiasts often want more induction noise or supercharger whine than an OEM system permits. Rather than creating an aluminium system that could suffer from heat soak and restrict intake volume through tube sizing, VelocityAP produced a complete 3D scan of the vehicle and designed a much larger-volume intake in 3D space.
The system provides the desired supercharger whine without concerns about heat soak or restricting intake volume below the OEM specification.
There are also applications where more volume than OEM may be required to support further performance improvements. For example, a stock intake may be adequate on a 340BHP base vehicle but may not provide sufficient airflow for a more heavily modified V8. This intake is required when fitting VelocityAP's larger 2300 supercharger packages.
VelocityAP's satin-finished carbon-fibre system is designed as a true performance component.
